Windcutter

The great king of heaven pulled from his breast a Bone. The great king gifted this bone to his smith who fashioned it into a hammer. With that hammer the smith was able to temper magic. With great elation the smith set to forging the most perfect thing, in honor of his king. As a gift for him he made this sword, a sword he named...

These works are a study of the ways women have been worshiped throughout the world. Different cultures have idolized different aspects of women. This body of work is an attempt to display the beauty and complexity of womanhood.

Animal Portraiture

Picture
In the summer of 2010 I had the wonderful opportunity to intern at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, where a wonderful group of people taught me how to silkscreen.  My affinity for portraiture, and love of animals seemed to make a great subject in witch to learn this new medium.  These images are the explorative study I went through to make my first screen prints.

Alphabet Animals

Picture
While staying at my friends house a few years ago, I carved a linoleum block image of a horse for my sister-in-laws birthday.  The horse was a simple study to me, but it was regarded as one of my better works and all my peers pushed me to do more. This alphabet is the product of my weak will in succumbing to peer pressure. It is also one of my favorite bodies of work.

Portraiture

Identity, self-expression, self-examination, social constructs, beauty, personality and practice are only a few of the reasons my work tends to gravitate back to portraiture.

Gnostic Studies

Picture
It is through my art that I search the spiritual depths of myself. These works are a product of that exploration.

Italy

Picture
In the fall of 2005, I began a study abroad program between Cornish Collage of the Arts, in Seattle WA, and Umbria Institute, in Perugie Italy.  This was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life to date.  The people and food were amazing, but most of all was the scenery.  These age old buildings, half falling apart, half completely immovable.

These works are a culmination of my explorations of the streets and alleyways of the small town I stayed in on this trip.
